The “1960s”
Truck Farming:
Managed an organic flower and vegetable farm using the French intensive method. Sold produce at the public market in Seattle.
The “1970s”
Orchard management:
Managed all phases of fruit production from winter pruning to market delivery. Surveyed and planted large fruit orchards averaging 60 acres. Including installation of irrigation systems for large plantations in eastern Washington.
The “1980s”
Civil engineering:
Worked on civil engineering teams designing and inspecting up to 105 million dollar projects in northwest Washington including park development, bicycle trails, drainage systems, retaining walls, road, and bridge construction.
The “1990s”
Environmental engineering:
Worked with federal, state, and local agencies to develop the environmental component for large scale civil engineering projects including fish and wildlife habitat, and wetlands restoration.
The “2000s”
General construction:
Owner of a building construction company focusing on all phases of residential and commercial construction from landscaping to finished carpentry.
The “2010s”
Retail nursery management:
Owner of the Gardens at Port Townsend. Focused on larger trees, bushes, ornamental flowers, and edible plants. We also sold, delivered, and installed mulches and ornamental masonry.
Landscape design and installation:
Designed, installed, and restored several residential and commercial landscape projects on the Olympic peninsula. Specializing in ascetic plant installation, irrigation systems, ponds, walls, rockeries, and architectural structures.
Completed several fine art courses from Pratt college of the arts, Bellevue College, and Peninsula College; Several agricultural certifications under Washington State Extension College, Private tutoring from Plant amnesty, Master Gardeners, Elanden Gardens. Countless plant and building seminars in Washington and Oregon.
Studied art works and landscaping projects in Asia including, The emperors’ palace in Tokyo and temples in Kyoto Japan, Bangkok to the southern palace at Songkhla Thailand , Kuala Lumpur Malaysia and Singapore.
